Why is David’s case different from other people cast away? From chapters 13-16

David says that he had read that other people cast away owned pockets full of tools or a chest full of belongings thrown onto the beach with them. David, however, only had a bit of money and Alan's silver button. David said he was an “inland bred” and knew little about his new environment.
