Cordelia, who loves Lear more than anyone is ostracized and punished for her refusal to voice her love for her father. He banishes her, disowns her, and puts her in a position where no man will ever marry her based upon her lack of dowry. None-the-less, there are those impressed by her honor, and she will marry despite all.
