The main themes in King Lear would be blindness, responsibility, and the theme of appearances -vs- reality.
Blindness is addressed in many forms. Lear is blind to the intentions of his daughters, blind to his own responsibilities, and blind to future affects of his own actions. Blindness also can be found in the theme of appearances -vs- reality, as Lear is incapable of discerning the motives and characters of his own daughters. What he perceives as good, is in fact, evil....... and the daughter he shuns..... is the only good thing in his life.
