Though the colonists are bound by law to join the militia to aid the British, many of them are reluctant to leave their homes and families defenseless. THere was hence an understandable rift between the two. THe army was merely interested in winning the war against the French and her indigenous allies. They were not concerned with the families of the settlers left to fend for themselves in a savage conflict.
