-Cousin Bud brings Suzella to stay with the Logans.

-Cassie is jealous of Suzella because everybody likes her.

-Suzella tries to be friends with Cassie.

-Mr. Turner, sharecropper, is told by Mr.Peck (the county agent) that he has planted too much cotton and must uproot the crop.
