King saw that the voices of blacks around the country and the world were being ignored. Because of this, he felt that non-violent, direct action was a necessity..... particularly in the state of Alabama where the courts had put out an order that forbid protests against demonstration. King did not advocate breaking the law, but he also saw that disobedience was the only way to bring segregation to the forefront.
