Lies My Teacher Told Me
How does "hero-making" take conflict and multidimensional, flawed characters out of history? In what way does this rob students of perspective aand practical connections to their present-day lives?

According to Lies My Teacher Told Me, “hero making” leaves students unable to apply much of American History to their own experience. Students aren't able to make a connection, and the author feels that this fact is responsible for the boredom we see in American classrooms. Thus, our author believes that human perspective and individual experience should be regularly injected to capture the student's attention.
