Love is the most important thing to Guido. Guido tries to share joy wherever he is, even in the camps. Eventually Guido eventually sacrifices his life to save his son.
To Guido, his top priority is his loved ones. The first example of this mindset is how Guido makes sure his son, Joshua, stays alive. Guido brings Joshua food, hides him during the day, and in the end sacrifices himself for Joshua by hiding him in a box. The second example of Guido having his loved ones as his top priority is when he makes sure his wife, Dora, knows that he and Joshua are alive by talking to her over the intercom. Both of these examples show that no matter the cost, Guido is willing to put everything on the line for the people he loves.
