This book is about both. Faith and imagination go hand in hand. The mythic world of faith must be manifested through the imagination. This does not make the experience any less true or valid. On the contrary, faith and imagination brings the individual, like Pi, closer to his or her truth. The reader does not have to pick between Pi's experience being real or imagination: it can be both.
