After they tell him the story, Darryl's father, Ron, dresses up in his military uniform and the whole group heads to the house of Barbara Stratford, an investigative reporter who works with the Bay Guardian. They tell Barbara their stories. She listens, takes notes and records the sessions. She tells the group she believes them because she has heard similar rumors. She tells them that she must investigate every aspect of their story and that they must be completely honest with her. She also warns that DHS may take out it anger at being exposed on Darryl. Marcus goes with Barbara when she makes copies of the letter. He tells her that he is M1k3y. She sets up a private interview at her office, ensuring him that his identity will be kept secret.
