How is the Turk important to Marcus’ understanding of how the government’s level of control is so dangerous?

The Turk, who owns the Turkish coffee shop, is important to Marcus' understanding because he is not just an immigrant.... he is an example of the many people who moved to the United States in order to escape the very things Marcus now experiences. The Turk refuses to accept debit cards and insists upon cash purchases because he doesn't want the government tracking his customers actions. He'd already experienced this form of government surveillance in Turkey, and he tells Marcus that he left Turkey for America in order to be free... to eliminate intrusion into his privacy. As a result, he wants no part in helping the government take this right to privacy away from the people who live in America.
