This chapter (3) notes that it’s really easy to fake the return number on a caller ID? Doctorow even suggests the reader “google ‘spoof caller id.’” Well … did you google it? Why would Doctorow suggest we do this? How does his call to action pull the reader into the novel? Author, Cory Doctorow, pulls his audience directly into the story in order to make them understand the "right to privacy." Marcus' phone belongs to him, and the police have no right to confiscate his belongings or make accusations simply because he is there.
