The family does their best to make Beth’s time happy. They set up a room for her piano........ and a worktable nearby. Beth keeps herself busy making gifts, which she drops out the window to passing children.

When Beth becomes to ill and pained to move around, her sister Jo moves in the room with her. Jo learns more in the time of caring for beth than she has ever learned before....... Beth dies in the spring.
