Why is Amy upset at the beginning of Chapter 7?

When Amy brings pickled limes to school for her friends, and her teacher makes her throw them in the snow rather than share them. In addition, Mr. Davis strikes her palm and forces her stand in front of the class until lunch..... all for trying to do a nice thing.
