Josie says, "I'm not going to be trapped like them" does Josie seem trapped, or 'cursed'?

Josie just seems full of teenaged angst. She has her struggles as an immigrant girl navigating culture and adolescents but she wasn't trapped or cursed. She still had the freedom to go to school and make decisions for herself. She might have felt trapped at the time living under the cultural rules of her house but "trapped" isn't really the right word for it. Josie has a flair for the dramatic and she is often restless; that's pretty much the norm for teenagers.
