I can give you a few ideas. Although Ralph is officially chief, most of the boys gravitate towards Jack's influence. They seek only to satisfy their primal natures. The rules once agreed to at meetings are quickly forgotten. Shelters are not built, fresh water is not stored, and they are contaminating their fresh water supply with sewage. Jack's hunters do not keep the signal fire going. That responsible world of adults, of order and responsibility is slipping away. Ralph does not know how to fight Jack's world of pleasure, violence, and “fun.”
