How can you tell that time has passed between chapters 2 and 3 in Lord of the Flies? How much time do you think has passed?

Chapter two ends with the chaos of the wild fire. Chapter three jumps to the rhythm of an average day on the island. We see the boys have settled into a routine which tells us time has passed.
