How does an author establish the concept of morals through the use of a narrator?

The narrator of the "Lord of the Flies" is anonymous and speaks in the third person. He's telling us a story, filling in the holes, and he illustrates the concept of morals through the actions and thoughts of the characters. A third person narrator doesn't intrude on the story or bore us with his own opinions, he uses his words to paint a picture.
