Jack's behavior at the feast is authoritative and controlling. He has crossed a barrier and expects submission from those around him. He seems to be drunk with his own power. “Give me a drink.”

"Give me a drink."

Power lay in the brown swell of his forearms: authority sat on his shoulder and chattered in his ear like an ape.
