In chapter 4 What creates the barrier between Jack and Ralph?

The thing that creates the biggest barrier between them is a sense of urgency and priorities. Ralph's priorities all have to do with shelter, safety, and rescue. Of the two, he is more sensible and mature. Jack on the other hand, makes it all about what he wants to do and when he wants to do it.
