In Chapter 5:Beast from Water, in Lord of the Flies, Analyze the line, "...Ralph discovered dirt and decay, understood how much he disliked perpetually flicking the tangled hair out his eyes..."(77)

You're making too much of this quote. Ralph's frustration with his hair stems from the boy's lack of civilization. He's used to having his hair cut short, he's used to having his hair clean.... and right now it's neither of those things. It's just a mess and a distraction...... he feels like nothing around him is clean and that the ordered world as he knew it was dying.
