In Chapter4, Jack gets one of his greatest desires fulfilled, and Ralph has his greatest desire torn away. What are these two events and how are they related?

Jack kills the pig he's been hunting and Ralph loses his place as leader amongst the boys. The two are related because Jack's actions and success are just what he needed to prove himself the stronger of the two boys.
