In Lord of the Flies, chapters 5 and 6, what is the significance of the boys no longer obeying rules decided in their assembly?

This shows the boy's lack of commitment to anything positive for the group. They are quickly forgetting about the rules of "civilization." These are military boys used to doing what they are told and carrying out tasks. It is surprising how quickly they devolve into kids with no sense of structure or discipline.
