Piggy was pretty distraught. Not only had Jack previously blinded Piggy in one eye (he smashed a lens) he had now taken away Piggy's sight completely. Piggy mistakenly thinks that Jack wanted the conch (the conch, by this time , only held meaning for him). Piggy is crying after the struggle; he has been made even weaker and has been humiliated once again.
