chapter 3
chapter 3
Simon is set apart from the other boys. He is Golding's Christ-figure in the novel. Simon has all the attributes of quiet goodness and wise insight that the other boys lack. Simon prefers to be alone, the other boys have bad energy and stress him out. He really fears nothing on the island except what the boys are capable of doing to each other. Where the boys are terrified to be alone in the jungle at night, Simon prefers the solitary comfort.
