Chapter five Beast from water
Chapter five Beast from water
Ralph is despondent. The boys aren’t taking him seriously. He stomps back to the beach thinking about how "life is an improvisation and about how a considerable part of one’s waking life is spent watching one’s feet." Ralph loses control at the meeting. Jack storms off and it is clear where sympathies lie. Ralph feels dejected and humiliated like Piggy. Ralph, like Piggy, offers responsible solutions to the boys and he is punished for it.
