Lord of the Flies
What does Ralph worry about as he looks out at the ocean? How does Simon reassure him? Do you agree with Simon or Ralph and why?
chapter-7
chapter-7
Ralph worries that they will never get home. Simon whispers in Ralph's ear, "You’ll get back all right.” There are no concrete reasons for Simon knowing this. Simon, however, is our Christ-figure. He says and does things that are beyond the boys' comprehension. Golding put Simon in the story to offer a wisdom that none of the boys have. It is a mystery where or how he is so evolved but his prophesy certainly carries some weight; Simon has never been wrong before.
