What example proves Jack's refusal to accept intelligent thinking on pages 89 and 90?

I can't locate my novel; I believe you're asking about chapter 12, when Jack attempts to smoke Ralph out of his hiding place and sets everything on fire. Had the naval officer not shown up, his decision would have been a catastrophe. Sometimes what we perceive as intelligence is nothing more than a hasty decision.

This has to do with the whole ship passing incident. Jack refuses to acknowledge just what a signal fire might have meant. Jack also breaks Piggy's glasses. With that half their fire (and Piggy's eye sight) is gone. Jack refuses to truly acknowledge what this means.
