What is the first indication of a threat of “danger” on the island?

Jack's behavior at the meeting called in Chapter 2 gives the reader the first sign that things might go badly. In addition to the bloodlust that he begins to show for pig hunting, he plunges his knife into the tree trunk, which strikes a nerve in the group.
