In 'The Coral Island,' three shipwrecked boys embark on an adventure in which they remain loyal, fun loving, gentlemenly souls. Golding answered the adventure loving premise of 'Coral Island' by using basically the exact formula and by portraying what he believed would be even a British child's reaction to such a tragedy.
