what prevented piggy from being the natural leader?

Piggy, because of his thick glasses and his overweight body size, is a typical kid who would be bullied by the kids around him.  Although he is very logical and has many very good ideas, he does not have the charisma needed to lead "children."  At best the kids use him; at worst they bully him and would never let him lead them.
