chapter nine
what reason does ralph give for the boys defection to jack ?
In Chapter 9, Ralph says that the purpose of the boys' defection to Jack's tribe is the ability to have fun and act like children. He says the boys defect so they pretend to be their own tribe, hunt, and put on war paint.
