Where does Simon believe the beast comes from? How is he correct?

Simon has the audacity to speak the truth and isolate one of Golding's major themes in the book. Simon summons the courage to say that “What I mean is . . . maybe it's (the beast) only us” Of course this metaphorical wisdom is far beyond the boys' comprehension.
