why do you think that piggy is so insistent on carrying the conch to jacks camp ?

Piggy has had everything taken away from him. He has been hurt, blinded, and humiliated. This is Piggy's last action of courage. It is his way of carrying the conch. a symbol of decency and civilization, to the savages at the top of the mountain.
