Why does Maurice walk away when Percivial starts crying, and why doesn't Roger throw the stones differently at Henry?

Maurice has faint recollections of getting in trouble in the old world. He still feels the threat of adults punishing him even though there are no adults on the island. Roger too throws the stones to miss Henry brecause he still feels the rules of the old world.
