Would the story have been different in any important ways if there had been girls in place of boys ? Do you think the story is about the capacity of Greats towards violence ?

I think the story would have radically been different if there had been girls on the island. I don't think the violence would have been the same. Certainly girls have their social problems but the conflicts would be emotional instead of physical. I also think the littluns would have been taken better care of. Girls seem more empathetic to little children than boys. I may be speaking in stereotypes here but I think girls would have added a different dimension.
