Act 4

Macduff has traveled to England to ask Malcolm to help free Scotland from the tyrant Macbeth, but in doing so he leaves his wife and children vulnerable to an attack.As a reader, do you dislike Macduff for making such a basic mistake, or do you respect him for trying to save Scotland despite the loss of his family?

Macduff, as a Scottish nobleman, put his country first. This would not have been considered out of the ordinary. In fact, it would have been considered a given. Nobleman swore fealty to their regents and loyalty to their country. To have acted in any other way would have been dishonorable.
