Macbeth
A paradox is a self-contradictory statement or proposition that when investigated is found to be true. The play Macbeth uses a version of paradox called equivocation: the balance between loss and gain. Macbeth's first line indicates this, "so fair and foul a day I have not seen." Equivocation is a motif that is in the play all the way to Macbeth's death.
