Examine act4 sc2. What themes are important?

The Lady Macduff / Son discourse touches on some of the major themes of the play. Specifically there is point that there are a hell of a lot more bad people in this world than good people,

“Then the liars and swearers are fools,

for there are liars and swearers enow to beat

the honest men and hang up them.”

As well L. Macduff points out that in her world, and ours as well, doing bad things is often rewarded and doing good things can harm a person,

I have done no harm. But I remember now

I am in this earthly world; where to do harm

Is often laudable, to do good sometime

Accounted dangerous folly
