How is Macbeth a tragic hero? or not?

Macbeth can certainly be seen as heroic, as we are introduced to him initially by reputation and his actions on the battlefield in defense of his king. He is a tragic hero because regardless of what he does the audience continues to care about him. A tragic hero must also be flawed, Macbeth is flawed in numerous ways, most notably his pride and ambition.
