1/ the condition of Scotland

This depends on when in the play you are referring to. After Macbeth becomes King, Macduff would be pretty despondent. He would think Macbeth was plunging Scotland into the depths of Hell. He would think Macbeth usurps the throne, killed Duncan, and is now killing anyone who he thinks is in his way.
