Macbeth, the protagonist, is an excellent example of hubris. He is so intent upon fulfilling his own ambition that his arrogance leads him to murder King Duncan and actually believe there will be no penalty for his crime. In fact, Macbeth actually overlooks the possibility of penalty for the crime and believes his actions will only solidify his claim to the throne of Scotland. Macbeth's fatal flaw leads to his own death.
