Alone on stage, Macbeth agonizes over whether to kill Duncan, recognizing the act of murdering the king as a terrible sin. Macbeth doesn't really want to kill the King, he would rather enjoy his new title which should be, worn now in their newest gloss,Not cast aside so soon. Macbeth is a man who probably knows the right thing to do but holds too many insecurities to stand for his convictions. It does not take long for L. Macbeth to emasculate him and get him to do her bidding.
