most of play is about the relations between hally and his mother's black employees. so why does the play begin and end with sam and willie?
The play revolves around Sam and Willie and their relationship with Hally. Hally has grown up with the two men, and their relationship is special. Sam and Willie, however, are employees...... and they are black. There are boundaries between their friendship with the young man that Hally doesn't understand. He is comfortable with these two men, and even ponders the closeness of their friendship. His father is abusive..... his mother is demanding. Hally is most comfortable in their world.... hanging out at the Tea Room. The Tea Room, however, is comfortable because of their presence..... it is their world, and Hally just happens to be a part of it.
