10.Mala says that Vladek is more attached to things than people. Why might Mala say this? Do you believe this is true?

This is related to when Mala and Art are searching for Anya's diaries. They are sifting through all of Vladek's things. I think Vladek is trying to save his past to fill a void he now feels. He is not close to his son and his wife is dead. Mementos of the past give his present life some meaning.
