In chapter 5 what are the 2 reasons why Artie was unwilling to help fix the drain pipe

Artie did not want to get up in the middle of the night to help his father. He had told his father to higher someone to do these things but Vladek was to cheap to do so. He also did not like visiting his father more than he had to. There was a lot of resentment between the two.
