On Page 93, Mala says that Vladek is more attached to things than people. Why might Mala say this? Do you think believe this is true?

Mala is helping Art to rummage through his father's things in search of Anya's diaries. The father and son do not have a close relationship, but this is changing as Art makes discoveries that assist him in understanding who his father really is. I believe that Mala's comment comes from the care in which Vladek has saved all of his calendars, brochures, and keepsakes, and the care he doesn't give to forging a relationship with his son.
