What finally happened to Vladek on PG 17? Did you expect this?

I'm not sure if our pages match but I'll bet you are referring to Vladek's wife Mala (spelling?) leaving him. This relationship was dysfunctional from day one. Vladek treated her like garbage and was paranoid about losing his money. It ended up working out that way. Mala ends up taking money and finally leaving.
