Why does Spiegelman use the comparison to the neighbor's dog on page 82?-

The Jews are made to march. The more they marched the more Vladek heard shooting. The tired and exhausted were merely shot. Vladek could see a body in the distance rolling around like a dog had been shot; it was another Jew. The comparison being they were treated like dogs.
