Why does Vladek turn in the chocolates for?

An example of this is when Artie was a little kid and he wouldn't eat all his food, Vladek would get mad and save the food and serve it again until he would eat it or starve. This is an example because Vladek felt since in the holocaust they would die for food and food was limited they had to use all that they had and not waste, he is now thinking of how mucho other people might need the food and they would just be throwing it away.
